2026 Toyota bZ4X Touring: Stretched electric SUV confirmed for Australia

Toyota Australia is doubling its EV lineup with the bZ4X Touring, a larger electric SUV that's a sibling to the Subaru Trailseeker.

The new Toyota bZ4X Touring unveiled overnight is a longer, more upright, and more rugged-looking version of the facelifted bZ4X mid-size electric SUV.

Toyota Australia confirmed the lengthened version of the bZ4X will be available in Australia during the first half of 2026.

It will complement a facelifted version of the bZ4X, which will arrive in Australian showrooms in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The bZ4X Touring will be offered with just one drivetrain: a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup with 280kW of power on tap.

Toyota hasn’t provided performance figures for the bZ4X Touring – which will be sold in the US as the bZ Woodland – – but the almost identical Subaru Trailseeker has the same drivetrain, and has a quoted 0-60mph (0-97km/h) acceleration time of 4.4 seconds.

It has a 74.7kWh battery pack for a range of up to 418km under the US EPA testing regime. AC charging speeds max out at 11kW, and the car supports DC fast-charging at up to 150kW. It also comes with battery pre-conditioning to reduce rapid charging times.

According to Toyota USA, the bZ Woodland/bZ4X Touring is 150mm longer than the regular bZ4X and 25mm taller. The increased dimensions and more upright rear-end boost boot space to 850 litres.

It also features 211mm of ground clearance, and a more rugged look than the smaller bZ4X/Solterra twins thanks to its dark grey wheel-arch extensions.

In the States, the Woodland/Touring rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with removeable covers, and all-terrain tyres are an optional extra.

Details about the bZ4X Touring’s pricing and specifications will be announced closer to its on-sale date.

Standard features for the US-market vehicles will include a 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, 360-degree camera system, faux leather seat trim, radar-guided cruise control, lane keeping assistance, six-speaker audio system and heated front seats.

Available items there include nine-speaker JBL sound system, Wi-Fi hotspot, ventilated seats with memory settings, digital rear-view mirror, and panoramic glass roof.

Compared to the Subaru Trailseeker that was unveiled at the 2025 New York motor show in April, the bZ4X Touring has a different front bumper design incorporating C-shaped upper headlights, plus a unique rear diffuser/bash plate, and possibly the smallest Toyota logo integrated into the rear light bar.
