Honda Australia has issued a recall for 22,366 vehicles across popular 2018-19 model lines – including the Accord, City Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Jazz and NSX – over concerns a manufacturing fault could render the fuel pump ‘inoperative’.
UPDATE, 16/7/20 11:05am: The wording of the recall notice has been amended, now excluding the mention of a death risk as a result of the fault which was included by the ACCC but not Honda. We’ve updated the quote accordingly.
“Due to an improper manufacturing process, a component within the fuel pump could swell, causing the fuel pump to become inoperative,” the company says in its recall notice.
“If the fuel pump stops working, this could stop the engine from starting or stall the engine while driving. This may increase the risk of an accident and may result in serious injury to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
Owners of the recalled Honda models are advised to contact their local dealer’s service department to book in their repair, free of charge.
