Mercedes-Benz is recalling its GLE and GLS SUVs as an issue with their 48V electrical system could lead to a fire.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the threaded nut connecting the negative terminal for the 48 Volt electrical system under the front passenger seat may not have been tightened sufficiently,” said the company in its recall notice.
“If this occurs it could result in higher than intended temperature and cause a vehicle fire.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.”
Mercedes-Benz is asking owners of all affected vehicles to book in a time with an authorised dealership for a free inspection and repair to be carried out as soon as possible.
